ZRAY has launched a compact automatic carton erector for packaging lines where floor space is the constraint — not throughput. The machine erects RSC-style cases at up to 12 CPM in a footprint of 1,850 × 1,150 mm, roughly 35% smaller than the standard single-piece erector, while keeping the full ZRAY control and recipe platform.

Who the Compact Erector Is For

The compact erector targets a specific, common situation: lines that need automation but have no room for a standard machine.

• Small food and beverage plants where the packing room is shared with storage and hand packing stations.
• Contract packers renting space, where every square meter has a monthly cost.
• E-commerce sellers that have outgrown manual taping but cannot remodel the packing area.
• Secondary lines — a small export line or trial production line that cannot justify a full-size machine.

What Was Shrunk (and What Wasn’t)

The engineering challenge was to cut footprint without cutting reliability:

Key space-saving decisions:

• Vertical magazine feeding from above the forming area instead of the side — this is the single biggest footprint saving.
• Telescoping guide system: the guides fold into the machine profile when not in use (still servo-positioned for recipe changeover).
• Integrated control cabinet on the machine frame — no separate electrical panel footprint.

What Was Not Compromised

• Case quality: the compact machine uses the same servo-driven flap folding and squaring station as the standard single-piece case erector, so case squareness holds ±1.5 mm.
• Connectivity: full Industry 4.0 stack — OPC UA, recipe library, alarm logging, and the same remote diagnostics channel as the full-size machines.
• Sealing options: tape or hot-melt sealing, both available.
• Serviceability: all maintenance points are accessible from the front and top; a technician can reach every wear component without moving the machine.

Integration Notes

• The compact erector’s discharge height is adjustable from 600 to 1,000 mm, matching most case packers and manual packing tables.
• It shares the same spare parts platform as the standard range for wear parts (vacuum cups, folding shoes, sensors), so a mixed fleet does not double the spare parts inventory.
• Installation is single-phase 220 V (3 kW) or three-phase 380 V — the control cabinet is configurable for either supply.
