ZRAY has integrated an inline vision inspection system into its carton erector line, giving packaging plants a verified quality gate at the machine exit. Every formed box is checked for open corners, mis-folded flaps, and bottom seal defects before it reaches the conveyor. The system runs at full machine speed — up to 40 CPM — with a measured false reject rate below 0.5%.

What the Vision System Checks

• Box squareness — both bottom corners are measured; a skewed box is rejected before it jams the downstream line.
• Flap closure — all four bottom flaps must sit flat with no overlap gaps.
• Bottom seal presence — glue line width and position are verified for glue machines; tape edge and overlap are verified for tape machines.
• Blank damage — torn edges and crushed fluting are caught at pick-up, not at the palletizer.

Without inspection, a popped bottom seal is discovered at the palletizer or, worse, in the customer’s warehouse. That single box stops a stretch wrapper, triggers a complaint, and costs far more than the machine’s reject station. With the vision system, the bad box is blown off at the erector, your checkweigher and palletizer run uninterrupted, and you keep a full image log for quality audits.

Integration with the Rest of the Line

The vision controller communicates with the machine PLC and can hand reject data to your MES or ERP over standard Ethernet. Settings for different box sizes are stored per recipe, so a size changeover loads the matching inspection parameters together with the mechanical setup.
